When our friends at Wal-Mart asked us to create a pivoting guardrail to act as a reinforced gate, our engineering team got right to work. The result was an extremely durable, swiveling guardrail that is cored at one end, and rides on a system of industrial casters at the other end. This new Heavy Guardrail Gate features all of the strength of our standard stationary guardrail system, with the added bonus of being able to move to one side.

Ideal Shield is proud to add the Heavy Guardrail Gate to our line of Award Winning products. This new heavy-duty gate is made of schedule 40 and 80 steel pipe sleeved in OSHA Yellow ¼” high-density polyethylene plastic.

It will never need to be painted; so how’s that for low-maintenance?

Standard or custom lengths and heights are available, and we will deliver it fully assembled to the job site. It is both water and chemical resistant, and

OSHA Launches New Recordkeeping Advisor Interactive Web-Based Tool

In an effort to help employers better comply with its record keeping rules, OSHA has launched an interactive, online, web-based tool that can help users determine if an injury or illness is work related and recordable based on the agency rules.

The new tool “the OSHA Recordkeeping Advisor” is designed to simulate an employer’s interaction with an OSHA Recordkeeping Rules Expert. To use the tool an employer responds to questions presented by the interactive web based Recordkeeping Advisor.  The “Advisor” evaluates the employer’s responses and helps to determine:

• If an injury, illness or related event is work-related
• If an event or exposure that takes place at home or on travel is work related
• If an exception applies to the injury or illness
• If a work-related injury or illness needs to be recorded
• Which provisions of the regulations apply when recording a work-related injury or illness

Keeping Your Employees Cool During the Heat Wave

Protecting our employees’ health and well-being is a top priority.  Just like many of our customers, we have employees working in warm environments, which is concerning in the summer months, particularly when we have a heat wave, as we are now.

Across the USA, people are going to gas stations and getting hit where it hurts, in the wallet.  Gas prices are at an all-time high, a full dollar higher than this time last year.  This is expected to continue in the coming months as the price of oil continues to rise.  Of course the ill effects of higher oil prices aren’t limited to the gas pump; plane tickets, milk, orange juice, and just about anything else that is transported from one destination to another. Removable, Locking Bollards

Ideal Shield offers removable, locking bollards to customers who need to restrict access to certain areas but also needs to be removable so the area can be easily accessed.

Recently the new pumping station for the Baltimore area sewage system needed bollard protection and had to be accessible for maintenance vehicles. Ideal Shield removable bollards were the perfect fit because they were made of galvanized steel to resist rusting and kept unauthorized vehicles out of the area.

Durable Handrail Solutions for Truck Docks

A customer had a problem with delivery trucks running into dock railing when backing up. Once the pre-fabricated railing got hit, rail would be damaged from the beginning of dock all the way up to the dock door

They installed Ideal Shield Industrial Pipe & Plastic Handrail, 9 foot sections of modular handrail. Now only the first nine foot section of handrail is damaged rather than the entire length of the truck dock. The replacement cost is minimal and much easier to fix. The handrail is maintenance free and never needs to be painted and has aluminum fittings that will not rust.

The customer now has a maintenance free system that is not as expensive to replace and looks great for years.

1/8” or ¼” inch? Yes, there is a difference.

It’s a question we answer all day long and there are distinct differences for the correct application of each.  It comes down to customer needs.

Let’s start with the 1/8″ wall sleeves. Whats the difference?

Pricing, pricing, pricing. These sleeves are perfect for applications when little to no contact is made with the post. These sleeves are not made for environments where carts, forklifts or cars may come in contact. The 1/8” sleeve is perfect for saving from having to paint posts; slide them on and don’t worry about them. You start saving money the day the bollard is covered with an Ideal Shield bumper post sleeve.

So when do you use ¼” sleeves?

The thicker wall sleeves work well in higher traffic locations where the likelihood of the bollard being hit is higher. These sleeves withstand more scuffing and nicks. Ideal Shield holds the patent on this product and through 15 years of production has perfected the product. With its rounded top and pigmentation all the way through ¼” sleeves look good for years and avoid becoming a trash can. Some companies prefer to use their corporate color schemes and need custom heights, the ¼” sleeve accommodates even the most unique needs.
