Recently Ideal Shield helped a hospital emergency room solve its traffic flow problems. ER visitors and patients could not easily see where they were supposed to park and where emergency vehicles took precedence and were creating flow problems in the parking lot.
Ideal Shield recommended the pyramid sign base in blue and red to increase signage visibility and make sure patrons could easily identify where they were supposed to park. U-Channel Covers were installed on all signs where existing u-channel has been utilized to give the parking lot a consistent look and keep all parking spots clearly marked.
Since the sign bases were installed the parking problem has all but disappeared and the hospital couldn’t be happier with the results.

At the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Ideal Shield heavy guardrail was installed at the truck dock to keep trucks from backing up into the building. This was needed for several reasons – one being the need to protect the dock from damage as multiple trucks hit it but more importantly surgery takes place on the second floor and any movement in the building could put a surgery in jeopardy.
This piece of guardrail is placed far enough away from the building to stop the truck trailer from hitting wall and is strong enough to withstand multiple hits. The rail was also modified to increase the strength of the heavy guardrail; a third post was added and the unit was installed in 46″ deep floor sleeves.

Customer Need
The Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford,Ill. needed a handrail system designed to keep patrons off a dangerous section of the roof. They did not want to install the system directly into the roof, yet it needed to withstand the proper weight and force. Also, due to the constant presence of children near the rail it needed to be built with spaces small enough to prevent children from climbing under or through the rail.
The Ideal Shield Solution
With the help of Sam Furman of Furman De:Signs, we designed and manufactured a custom anodized aluminum handrail system mounted on steel sled-mounts, The sled mounts provided the weights and strength to withstand children climbing on it and allowed for an installation that did not include penetrating the roof membrane. The system also featured a railing design that deterred patrons from climbing through, over or around the rail.
