Alternate to removing concrete light bases

Customer Need
Three existing light pole bases in the alternate heliport and hanger location-three light poles had to be removed to maintain proper clearance for the emergency response helicopter flight path. Rather than tear out the concrete bases, the hospital had merely covered the capped off electric with a traffic cone.
These were unsightly, and in one location, was a concern for visibility for snow plows and vehicles who might not see the large concrete base. They needed something that would be low enough to not interfere or be effected by the helicopter rotors, but still be visible above piled snow.

Ideal Shield Solution
The bases were painted a bright yellow color, and 6” k Ideal Shield bollard covers were added on top. These have been expansion anchored to the concrete using steel angles. The end result is both aesthetic and functional – providing a visible warning while maintaining height restrictions.

Sign Post Retrofit

Recently Ideal Shield helped a customer find a cost effective, easy solution to solve a broken sign system.

Customer Problem
A u-channel post that was cemented into a 6″ pipe bollard and held a handicap sign broke off at the cement and the customer did not want to incur the cost of cutting out the bollard and needed a cost effective retrofit solution that would be easy to perform in the field.

The Ideal Shield Solution
We designed a cap to go over the top of the existing bollard and it was tack welded. The cap also included a 1 1/4″ pipe sign post. Once installed an Ideal Shield Bumper Post Sleeve was placed over the top of the new system to give it a cleaner look. A blue plastic cover was placed over the pipe post and a new handicap sign was bolted to it.

Outcome
The customer was pleased with the ease of installation and plans to purchase more for the additional sign systems at his location.
