School zones are supposed to be safe zones. It’s supposed to be the place where kids can run around on the playground, walk with their friends between classes, and enjoy their time. It’s not supposed to be a place where parents, faculty members, and the kids themselves should be worried about potential attacks and incidents. Now, there are plenty of layers to the school safety issue these days but one of the bigger problems that may not get as much attention are the roadways and parking lots around the schools.
Students spend plenty of time outside of the school so blocking off roads and service drives from vehicle access is critical. But these streets are still necessary during non-school hours. Removable Locking Bollard
Removable Locking Bollards offer an adjustable security barrier to any school zone. The bollards are easily removed by employees for vehicle access and easily replaced for security purposes. The system can come in 4″ or 6″ pipe and also includes a self-closing hinged lid that will prevent tripping hazards after removal of the bollard.
Collapsible Locking Bollard
Collapsible Locking Bollards are also available in 4″ or 6″ options and are quick and easy to install. Once the bollard and base plate is installed, it couldn’t be any easier to use. Just remove the lock at the bottom of the system and lift the bollard up about an inch before leaning it down to the ground. When it’s on the ground, the tallest part of the base will be 6.5″ tall, which will allow trucks, vans, and medical and service vehicles to pass over the bollard with ease allowing temporary access in a minute’s notice.
C40 Traffic Impact Bollard
The C40 Traffic Impact Bollard is engineered and independently crash tested to meet the ASTM C40 P1 Standard and designed to meet the ASTM F2656 storefront requirements. One properly installed single standalone bollard is engineered and designed to stop a 5,000 lbs. vehicle at 30 mph impact with less than 24″ of vehicle penetration. The bollard is also easy to install for an impact bollard and has bi-directional stopping capability so it can be hit from any angle. No matter the need at the school, this protection bollard can fill it as the bollards are available in permanent or removable applications.
