Why Storefronts Need More than “Just a Couple” of Bollards

Whether you’re an international brand or a “mom and pop shop”, protecting your storefront is very important. It’s not only to protect and limit damage done to your building, but it’s also to protect the patrons in and around your store. And while it’s very important for smaller stores, for larger companies with locations all around the country and world, the odds of experiencing car into building crashes is obviously much higher.

That’s why having several closely installed bollards is more than crucial.

It’s essential.

When storefronts just have a couple of bollards, spaced apart, it allows the chance for cars to slip in-between bollards or even run them over individually, to reach the building. Pedal errors, losing control of a car, or, much worse, using the vehicle as a weapon, are all common causes of storefront crashes. And it happens all of the time.

Just ask Dunkin’ Donuts, who happens to be one of Ideal Shield’s largest bollard cover customers (not bollard posts):

As the 8th largest fast food chain in the world, with more than 11,000 stores worldwide, Dunkin’ Donuts is far from alone on this problem. The donut king of America is just one of the many businesses around the country and around the globe that deals with storefront crashes on a normal basis.

That’s why we’re pushing for capable businesses and storefronts to install more bollards. And to install them closer together (at maximum, five feet apart) to lower the chances, even more, of a vehicle making its way through the barrier.

But what about the look of a more secure storefront?

Aesthetics are important to any business. As is safety. But which is more important? Luckily, you won’t have to decide as both boxes can be checked with Ideal Shield.

Some may think putting a lot of bollards around a business makes it look like a “fortress” but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only will the extra bollards make the building and its patrons safer, there’s also a wide array of plastic bollard covers available to give businesses a clean, personalized, branded look, if necessary. That includes standard covers, decorative covers, as well as bollard sign systems, all of which can be customized to fit your branding.
